Linda Knapp McIntyre is a native and life-long resident of Watkins Glen.  The Glen, itself, had a major impact on the life of her father, Leonard Knapp, whose family's home, located near the glen entrance, was swept downstream and destroyed in the Flood of 1935.

Linda was born left-handed and her ability to handle crayons and coloring books was apparent from the beginning.  Throughout elementary school and high school in Watkins Glen, Linda was known as the 'artist" in her class and today her paintings of the school buildings are displayed in the elementary lobby showcase.

With the encouragement of her grandmother, oil color artist Daisy Andrew Smith, her high school and college art instructors, and, later, her husband, Richard McIntyre, Linda continued to practice and in 1987 she began her professional career as a watercolor painter and calligrapher.

Linda McIntyre has won regional awards and a national award for her watercolors; her artwork is in private and corporate collections throughout the world.

Today she is semi-retired and a widow but she continues to find inspiration and pleasure in the awesome beauty of the colors and landscapes of the Finger Lakes region.  She sincerely appreciates having been known for a number of years as Watkins Glen's 'famous' artist and for the support of patrons and these particular written words of support received over the years.
